i've heard that cracking the carb would void any warranty so i'd prolly hold off (if the warranty is important to you). i've also heard that removing the white spacer is a hit or miss proposition (i.e. no guarantee of improved power/performance). handful of options available for the exhaust (look for 'jardine', 'muffler', 'pipe', etc here on the list for all the opinions).
know what you mean about the weather. i finally got to ride a few minutes yestiddy but i'm ready for spring. i'm cranking it a couple times a wk to shake to cobwebs off but i really need to get back on the road! enjoy your bike!
